Bristol Child Psychology Practice Dr Sarah Buttler, Clinical Psychologist, D.Clin Psy, BSc (Hons) Psychology, BABCP accredited Dr Sarah Elgie, Clinical Psychologist, D.ClinPsy, BSc (Hons) Psychology, BABCP accredited Background Bristol Child Psychology Practice is a group of highly qualified Clinical Psychologists who specialise in working with children and teenagers, and their families. All the Clinical Psychologists with the Bristol Child Psychology Practice have extensive experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties and all work within the NHS in local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teams (CAMHS). Bristol Child Psychology Practice was set up to offer a private service to young people and their families wishing to seek help and support outside of the NHS. Dr Sarah Elgie and Dr Sarah Buttler both have over 15 years’ experience of working within local NHS Child and Mental Health Teams and run a private practise from the beautiful Yanley Court. Yanley Court offers a peaceful centre which promotes all forms of well-being, and is a calm and relaxing setting to bring your son or daughter to.

Assessment and therapy offered

Dr Sarah Buttler and Dr Sarah Elgie are highly trained to work with a wide range of difficulties that children and teenagers may experience at some point in their childhood.  Both offer support and help to children and teenagers experiencing a range of emotional difficulties including low mood, anxiety, panic, OCD, trauma, low self-esteem, self-harm, tics, anger, body and eating issues.  Dr Sarah Elgie and Dr Sarah Buttler are also skilled at working with young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties including ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s.

 

Both Dr Sarah Elgie and Dr Sarah Buttler will first spend time talking with you and your child to understand and make sense of the difficulties you would like help with.  You will then be offered a series of appointments to help your child or teenager learn to overcome their difficulties.  Therapies can include cognitive behaviour therapy, family based therapy, attachment work and / or parenting work.  Clinical Psychologists use the NICE (National Institute of and Clinical Excellence) to inform their clinical practice.

 

We understand that coming to see a Clinical Psychologist can be daunting and takes courage but therapists such as Bristol Child Psychology Practice are highly skilled at working alongside children and families.  Confidentiality, respect and sensitivity is at the heart of all appointments.

Booking information

Your initial assessment with the Bristol Child Psychology Practice will cost £110 and lasts an hour and a quarter.  You will be asked to pay for your assessment appointment at the time of booking via bank transfer.  After your first assessment appointment, all further appointments with the Bristol Child Psychology Practice will cost £80 and will last 50 minutes.  You will be asked to pay for these via bank transfer or cash prior to each appointment
